Coefficient Giving funding, Stray Dog Institute movement survey, Rethink Priorities cause-neutral fund
Your farmed animal advocacy update for early June 2026
Hi there! 👋 We (Megan and Chelsea) are at the helm today while Sofia takes a well-deserved sabbatical through June.
A lot has been happening in the farmed animal movement since we last updated you three weeks ago. Today’s Jobs & Opportunities section is especially dense. We’d be interested to know what you think of this edition, just hit reply to share your thoughts.
The most popular link from Hive Highlights late May 2026 was Animal Charity Evaluators' (ACE) latest Movement Grants announcement, featuring 25 projects and organizations globally.
To kick off today’s Hive Highlights, here are our 3 top picks from across the movement:
From Jobs & Opportunities
💰 Funding: Coefficient Giving opens two major requests for proposals: for Humane Fish Slaughter Research/Prototypes (approximately $7 million, submit letter of intent by 1 July), and for Alternative Protein Research and Development (up to $10 million, submit application by 10 August).
🔥 Opportunities: Stray Dog Institute invites animal advocacy organizations to complete its 2026 State of the Movement Survey, helping map the movement’s resources and funding allocations globally. Summary results will be published by the end of 2026 and shared with the full movement, including funders, to inform strategy. Share your thoughts by 30 September.
🔥 Opportunities: Rethink Priorities launches the Cross-Cause Fund, a new giving fund that uses cause-neutral research to allocate donor contributions across cause areas, including animal welfare. Right now, the animal welfare recommended allocations are EA Animal Welfare Fund, and two funds managed by The Navigation Fund.
P.S. There's still time to complete the short AI survey from Hive, Vegan Hacktivists, and Stray Dog Institute. Ten respondents will each direct $250 to a movement organization of their choice. Entries accepted through 12 June.
Warmly,
Megan, Chelsea, and the Hive team
