Your farmed animal advocacy update
Welcome to the first edition of March! 🌱 A new month is here, and with it comes fresh updates from across the movement! Here are three we think you’ll want to check out:
🐣 Movement news:
Article on possible approaches to help farmed animals in low- and middle-income countries, and call for collaborators for research and a potential charity. Most farmed animals live in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), where Western advocacy tactics often fall short. Express your interest in a research project into sustainable agriculture projects in LMICs and how their strategies might apply to farmed animal advocacy, and a potential follow-up charity.

Magnify Mentoring connects and supports people, specifically those from underrepresented backgrounds, to have a positive impact with their careers and lives. Applications are currently open for women, non-binary persons, or trans persons of any gender who are enthusiastic about pursuing a high-impact career using evidence-based approaches. Your LinkedIn profile can be more important than a resumé. Keeping it updated can play a key role in finding a new opportunity!
Don't just apply to opportunities, be strategic and proactive about your application: connect with someone from the organization, engage with them, and enhance your prospects.

Portuguese cities Braga and Tavira endorse the Plant Based Treaty, joining 35 towns and cities worldwide.
UK government launched a first-of-its-kind regulatory program to accelerate the regulatory approval pathway for cultivated meat.
⚖️ Policy, Legislation, and Law
The European Commission published its work program for the next four years (2025 – 2029), which provides an overview of the various policy actions the Commission intends to carry out and contains general statements on food and agriculture.
The European Commission also published “A Vision for Agriculture and Food Shaping Together an Attractive Farming and Agri-Food Sector for Future Generations.” This document serves as the specific work program of the Commission in the field of food and agriculture.

Convergence Animaux Politique’s (CAP) 2024 impact and 2025 strategy.
Effective Animal Advocacy Australia (EAAA)’s retrospective on their letter-writing campaign on Victorian Pig Welfare Inquiry.
New initiatives:
Inside Animal Ag is a new site presenting the impact of U.S. industrial animal agriculture.
Lawyers for Animal Protection in Africa (LAPA) advocates for animal welfare and environmental sustainability through legal action and collaboration.
The European Institute for Animal Law & Policy:
will present (in partnership with the European Environmental Bureau) an exhibition titled “Factory Farming: Unveiling the Hidden Costs” at the European Parliament from 24‒27 March. Register for the exhibition launch event on 25 March.
