Some thoughts on which groups of animals are most affected by fishing, directly or indirectly, and what to consider when evaluating whether fishing is net good or bad.
The growing chasm in American meat consumption, explained: “The number of households that avoid meat has increased slightly, while all other households have increased their meat purchases by an average of nearly 15 percent by weight relative to other foods.”
There was a big push for the Shrimp Welfare Project (SWP) earlier this month, spurred on by this case for giving. It resulted in an additional $13,000+ for SWP!

New report shows how advocates in China and Southeast Asia use research and data, highlighting the importance of localization, stakeholder engagement, and data accessibility to improve advocacy efforts.
Meta-analysis shows that meaningfully reducing meat and animal product consumption is an unsolved problem.
Analysis of 35 papers (41 studies, 112 interventions) shows very small overall effects for reducing meat consumption.
Red meat reduction specifically showed larger effects but may lead to increased chicken or fish consumption.
Summary and study on how an undercover video boosted support most for more moderate animal welfare reforms and attracted new donors.
Summary and study shows emphasizing the bodily nature of lactation increases disgust towards cow milk, but this does not reliably decrease intended consumption.
