New Channels 📚
#r-russian: A space for advocates from the region to connect and exchange on farmed animal advocacy.
Spotlight 🌟 While the Hive Slack mainly focuses on farmed animal welfare, we’ve set up a dedicated channel for wild animal welfare since many advocates also care about this area.
🦌 Wild Animals
Therese shared an article about using oral rabies vaccination of raccoons as a proof of concept that wild animal welfare interventions can be scalable and plausibly cheap per animal.
Richard and Ben introduced amendments on wild animal welfare in the House of Lords, which sparked a sympathetic debate towards wild animals.
Johannes shared a debate on whether humans should intervene to reduce suffering in wild animals, highlighting the key tension between animal autonomy and suffering prevention.
Anand provided a historical overview of wild animal welfare, highlighting examples where interventions were carried out for compassion rather than conservation or human benefit.

Animal Charity Evaluators launched Better for Animals: Evidence-Based Insights for Effective Animal Advocacy, which synthesizes the latest evidence on almost 30 different animal advocacy interventions.
Björn posted a new resource about research gaps in Africa, highlighting key findings from a survey and workshop conducted at the AVA conference in Nairobi.
Eva highlighted the We Animals stock platform, where new content is added every month for the community to use.
Charly shared the Animal Welfare Economics Mentorship Program, which offers PhD students and early-career scholars one-on-one mentorship with faculty in the field of animal welfare economics.
